Berry Cordial

1c sugar
1 quart-ish blackberries
1 quart-ish vodka

~pour the sugar into a clean quart jar.
~add enough berries to fill the jar (do not press berries down).
~fill the jar with vodka (making sure berries are completely covered).
~put a lid on the jar and place it in the back of the refrigerator.
~shake the jar once a week for 2-3 months.
~the sugar will dissolve and the vodka will become colored.
~strain out the berries and bottle as desired.
~serve as a cordial or use to flavor lemonade or iced tea.
~use the berries in cocktails, lemonade, over ice cream or in cobblers.

Note: a berry cordial made in late summer will be perfect around thanksgiving.
